Panchmura, Bankura, West Bengal
The long-necked terracotta horse of Bankura began as a votive offering left at village shrines and became one of Bengal's most recognised clay forms. This one is made in Panchmura in the traditional way, wheel-thrown in parts and joined by hand, fired to a deep russet. It stands on its own, ears up, wherever you set it.
