Kani Weave Pashmina Shawl

In kani weaving the design is not embroidered on but woven in, each patch of colour laid down with its own small wooden bobbin instead of a shuttle. The result is a shawl where flowers and vines are part of the cloth itself. This is the slowest work in Kashmiri weaving, and the shawl carries that patience in every row.
